The 9th April began my final and favourite work experience week. I spent the week in Sandyford with Paul O'Loughlin and associates architecture firm. I felt my week could not have been better and it gave me a huge insight for my future. They are a much smaller firm than my first architecture placement RKD with only two full time employees. As part of my work there I got to help with extension projects and and room designs/layouts .
My first project was a kitchen lay out for a renovation of an old railroad house in Phibsboro as seen below. I also worked on a full shell of a proprosed 3 houses and the boundary which cannot show as it is un published publicly. Lastly I worked on a barn extension to the back of property below the image of the the kitchen layout.
I feel that being at a smaller firm was much better as it enabled me to help with actual projects instead of doing my own thing. I also got to visit sites multiple times like the new Jaguar Land rover Ireland showroom that the company had done the work for and the site in Phibsboro that I was working on. I also got to visit previous projects done by the form in Sandyford such as many of the Spirit Burton Motor Group car sales.
This work experience further refined my belief that architecture is the career that I want to peruse as my week flew by and was probably the most productivity I have done this year. I got to talk to both Architects and got advice for college and approaches to take for a career in architecture
