On the 29th September 2017, two representatives from Dell, Marie and Adrian, came in to give us a talk about how "I.T Is Not For Geeks." The talk was about how people in I.T aren't stereotypical geeks and that discounting the I.T sector as a possible Job opportunity is a big mistake.
The talk began with the guest speakers explaining what Job opportunities Dell offer as a company, with sectors ranging from HR and sales, to server engineering and product design. We then got to ask questions, the question I asked was is travel incorporated into the job, Marie responded saying that as a marketing director she travels a lot to other Dell headquarters in San Francisco, Japan and Australia.
Afterwards we were shown a video where multiple employees from Dell described their jobs in detail and showing how working at an I.T company can be fun with examples such as a ping pong and an Xbox in the break room of Dell.
Afterwards we were showed another video about people who worked in the I.T sector except this time the people being interviewed were from multiple companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook, but still also Dell. This showed us people who worked in the I.T sector who detailed the different work opportunities in I.T companies and how I.T companies make the working environment fun and non stressful.
Overall it was an enjoyable talk and I learned a lot from Marie and Aiden and I will now consider a job in the I.T sector in the future.
