On the 22nd of September my class and I took part in the Eagle's Flight Workshop. This Workshop was all about team building, we were split into five teams for an exercise called “The Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine.”
The exercise was a strategy game which involved planning, resource management and most importantly teamwork. The objective of the exercise was to travel to an area (the gold mine) and stay there as long as possible to mine as much gold before returning back to the start within a twenty day time limit, each day being five minutes. There was random natural events along the way that affected your resources or movement to add a twist, depending on your position on the map.
My team ended the game with five pieces of gold after our team leader went against the team decision which ended up costing us two pieces of gold. Frustrating but at least we didn't finish last. We arrived back at the start with one day to spare. After that we compared our results to the other teams to see what we could have done better. I enjoyed the workshop overall and would recommend it to any other schools or businesses looking for a team building exercise.
